Airtel Leads Mobile Internet Quality in DR Congo: nPerf Report Highlights Market Performance
According to the latest findings by nPerf, Airtel subscribers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) experienced the highest quality mobile internet service throughout 2024.
The comprehensive report delves into the performance of major mobile service providers across the DRC, analyzing key metrics including download and upload speeds, latency, browsing, and streaming from April 2023 to March 2024.
As the market leader, Airtel showcased impressive results, boasting an average download speed of 9 Mbps and an upload speed of 6 Mbps. These figures underscore Airtel’s commitment to delivering top-tier service bolstered by robust infrastructure. With an average latency of 121 ms, Airtel outperformed its regional counterparts, ensuring swift network responsiveness. Browsing and streaming scores of 29% and 59% respectively further solidify Airtel’s reputation for reliability and user satisfaction.
Orange Mobile also emerged with commendable performance, offering an average download speed of 8 Mbps and an upload speed of 3 Mbps. Though slightly trailing Airtel, these metrics demonstrate Orange Mobile’s competitive edge, coupled with an average latency of 194 ms and browsing and streaming scores of 29% and 65% respectively.
Vodacom maintained a decent level of service quality with average download and upload speeds of 6 Mbps and 4 Mbps respectively. Despite its relatively higher latency of 221 ms, Vodacom’s browsing and streaming scores of 33% and 64% respectively indicate satisfactory performance.
Africell showcased promising performance with average download and upload speeds of 6 Mbps and 3 Mbps and a latency of 147 ms. While its browsing and streaming scores of 26% and 63% suggest room for improvement, Africell remains a competitive player in the market.
Airtel’s dominance in the DRC’s mobile market persists, offering users the best download speeds, low latency, and superior streaming and browsing experiences. Orange Mobile and Vodacom also stand out for their competitive offerings that meet user expectations. Despite trailing behind, Africell continues to provide competitive video streaming quality, hinting at potential growth opportunities in the future.
